Eating Disorder Therapy
I know how lonely living with an eating disorder can be. I know how exhausting it is to be constantly bombarded with intrusive thoughts around food, calories and weight. I know how impossible recovery can feel after years of trying.
I know how much shame you must be carrying, how much grief you are living with for what your eating disorder has stolen from you, and how much courage it takes to change.
I also know that recovery is possible. I know that, with awareness, compassion and nourishment, we can heal. That, with the right support, we can find freedom from the urges to binge or restrict or over-exercise, from the thoughts that tells us we are unworthy, and from the shame and guilt that stop us from living the meaningful, beautiful life we deserve.
I offer holistic support for people experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating. Because everyone's relationship with food is unique, all sessions are client-led – this means, we work at your pace at all times.
Depending on the kind of support you feel that you needs, sessions may focus on nutrition and meal planning, your relationship with food, or the emotional wounds driving you to use food as a coping strategy – often, we explore all of these things over the course of our work together. I draw on various psychological frameworks and therapeutic techniques including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), polyvagal theory and the power threat meaning framework as well as more spiritual techniques such as visualisation and inner child work.
Sessions may include:
