LOVING GROUND is a soft space for healing, grieving and being. A refuge for release and renewal. A sacred ground from which to explore the wild mystery of your body and the feelings that rumble in your soul, to welcome the parts of yourself that have not known love, and to awaken to the fierce beauty of being alive.
Every one of us has known loss, loneliness and failure. And, healing is a journey we cannot walk alone. So, I created LOVING GROUND to support you on your journey towards wholeness.
Located in Hove, East Sussex, I provide counselling and coaching in Intuitive Eating and Nutritional Therapy, Yoga, Meditation and Pranayama, and Spiritual Counselling, as well as mentoring for yoga teachers.
If you Hove isn't accessible to you, we can also work together online via Skype.
Intuitive Eating Counselling and Nutritional Therapy
Two thirds of adults admit to being on a diet "most of the time" and one third of adults report feeling anxious or depressed because of their body — so, if your relationship with food and your body is creating pain, fear or shame, please know that you are not alone.
Intuitive Eating Counselling and Nutritional Therapy gives you space to create a relationship with food and your body based on self-care rather than self-control. Together we will gently explore what is hurting, what needs healing, how your eating habits both harm you and serve you, how to trust your appetite and listen to your intuition, and how to make peace with your body and rediscover the power that lives within it.
As a qualified Intuitive Eating Counsellor and certified Ayurvedic Nutritionist, and having been through an eating disorder myself as a teenager, I can offer both personal and professional experience to support you as you begin walking your path to healing and wholeness.
Specialities:
Eating disorders and dysfunctional eating
Transitioning from meal plans to intuitive eating following traditional eating disorder treatment
Relearning to eat intuitively after chronic dieting
Body acceptance and body kindness
Supporting the body to reach it's natural, healthy weight (this sometimes involves weight gain, sometimes weight loss, and sometimes weight maintenance)
Gentle Nutrition — a flexible, balanced approach to nutrition which ensures you are meeting all your nutritional needs without being rigid, restrictive or obsessive
Yoga, meditation and pranayama (breathwork) can transform our relationships with our body, ourselves, and the world around us. But, creating time for a regular practise is often a struggle when we are caught up in the busyness of our day-to-day lives. These sessions are very personal to your needs and give you the space and guidance to release, refocus, and reconnect with your breath, your body, and what is important.
People come to yoga and meditation for many different reasons — from healing disordered eating, reducing stress, and easing anxiety, to improving focus, enhancing sports performance and increasing creativity. Having worked with Premiership footballers, full time parents, CEOs, veterans, and those in mental health hospitals, we will explore what has called you to yoga and meditation and create a personal practice that enriches your life with peace, beauty and aliveness.
Specialities:
Meditation for beginners
Meditation for people who don't like meditating
Meditation for professionals (corporate and athletes)
Compassion-focussed meditation
Body acceptance yoga
Yoga and meditation for healing and personal growth
Creating a home practice
Sessions at LOVING GROUND are largely focussed on healing and personal growth through yoga and meditation, but if you are interested in the more physical side of yoga (movement, mobility, handstands...), I run sessions at Underground Gym. You can find out more here.
Whether you are struggling with depression or grief, are going through relationship problems or stress at work, or simply feel a kind of free-floating anxiety, a lack of meaning, a sense that something you cannot name is missing from your life, Spiritual Counselling gives you the space to look deeply at yourself and the world around you to discover what is causing you to suffer and how you can free yourself from it.
From finding meaningful ways to express your pain to learning to listening the quiet call of your soul, our sessions will help you explore who you are, where you belong, and what is sacred.
If you have found traditional talking therapies, such as CBT, unhelpful, Spiritual Counselling offers a softer, more holistic alternative — instead of taking a pathological, clinical approach where the therapist is seen as the expert, Spiritual Counselling gives you the space to step into your power, reconnect with your purpose, and release grief, shame and pain so you are free to fall in love with this precious adventure of being alive.
As a Student Spiritual Counsellor, I have a limited number of spaces for free Spiritual Counselling. If you are interested and can commit to 12 fortnightly sessions, then please get in touch.
Starting out as a yoga teacher is hard. Where do you find clients? How do you start classes if studios only want experienced teachers? Should you specialise? How much should you charge? How many classes should you teach? Do you need to create new sequences every week? How do you find time for self practice?
Having taught over 5000 hours of yoga, worked with a range of clients from professional athletes and war veterans to gym goers and those with mental health difficulties, and taught in a variety of locations from Spanish rooftops, Sussex rugby pitches, country clubs, gyms, schools, offices, and homes, I understand how tough teaching can be.
Because of this, I offer mentoring for yoga teachers over three, six and 12 months to help you find a way of teaching that energises you rather than drains you.
Mentoring is personal to you and can involve everything from finding locations to teach and creating ebooks to share your knowledge, as well as developing online video programmes and sustaining a home practice.
If you'd like to have a chat to see if mentoring is right for you, please get in touch.
